About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and coordinate recurring AR and AP activity, ensuring invoices, payments, collections and allocations are completed accurately and on time
  • Manage the Finance inbox and coordinate responses to internal and external finance queries
  • Oversee routine finance communications, payment workflows and introducing-broker (IB) processes
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and prioritisation for the Finance Assistant and ensure key activities are covered during absences
  • Maintain clear ownership, deadlines and escalation routes for routine Finance processes
  • Coordinate the month-end timetable and ensure journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules are completed
  • Prepare and review selected balance-sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual or aged items
  • Support production of monthly management accounts and variance commentary
  • Assist with actual-versus-budget reporting and recurring management information
  • Support the Financial Controller with analysis, schedules and ad hoc reporting
  • Oversee routine bank reconciliations and resolve exceptions
  • Support monitoring of bank balances, payment requirements and short-term cash movements
  • Assist with intercompany recharges and reconciliations
  • Support the Treasury & Regulatory Finance Manager with underlying data and reconciliations
  • Coordinate monthly payroll inputs and support payroll submissions
  • Review and reconcile employee expenses and ensure policy compliance
  • Maintain supplier records and support supplier onboarding and invoice/payment queries
  • Maintain fixed-asset records and support depreciation processing
  • Calculate and prepare monthly commission calculations, investigate variances, and support approval and payment
  • Maintain process documentation, checklists and audit trails
  • Prepare schedules and evidence for external audit and assurance activity
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline recurring processes
  • Work with the Financial Controller and wider business to improve finance systems, reporting and controls
  • Support implementation, documentation and embedding of new processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fully qualified accountant, such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3 to 5 years’ relevant finance experience, including at least 1 year post-qualification
  • Previous experience in a broad finance role within financial services, an SME, or a multi-entity environment would be desirable
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and management accounts
  • Experience working with payroll, expenses, financial reporting, and recurring finance processes would be advantageous
  • Comfortable working with senior Finance stakeholders and supporting the wider business on day-to-day finance matters
  • Good Excel skills, including lookups, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and basic financial analysis
  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
  • Familiarity with PayFit or another payroll system would be advantageous
  • Experience using PayHawk, MayDay, or other expense management tools would be beneficial
  • Comfortable working with finance systems, operational data, and reporting tools
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools would be advantageous
  • Interested in using technology, automation, and process improvement to reduce manual workload and improve accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, ownership, problem-solving, communication, process improvement, and adaptability
