About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform pulmonary function tests and spirometry
  • Calibrate and maintain the PFT machine according to manufacturer specifications
  • Identify and facilitate appropriate equipment repairs as needed
  • Maintain records related to respiratory therapies
  • Adjust schedules according to patient care needs and confirm appointments
  • Maintain a clean and orderly PFT lab according to disinfection protocols
  • Perform comprehensive chart preparation and review relevant diagnostic information
  • Educate and coach patients on correct testing procedures and medication delivery when necessary
  • Obtain vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, height, and weight
  • Document relevant chart notes and electronically send completed reports to physicians
  • Dispose of medical waste according to company and regulatory policies
  • Maintain supply levels and independently order and track deliveries
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current licensure to practice respiratory therapy in the state where you will work
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required
  • Previous knowledge and experience in pulmonary function testing required
  • Ability to operate diagnostic/patient care equipment required
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform various work assignments in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) required
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred
