About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct service in a GLE/SIE residential setting
  • Help Persons Served overcome barriers to and prepare for independent living
  • Implement Treatment Plan support interventions as assigned
  • Support residents who have difficulty sleeping and encourage good sleep habits
  • Administer, document, store, and dispose of medications according to MAP policies and regulations
  • Teach Persons Served medication management
  • Provide crisis interventions and access on-call backup when needed
  • Perform day-to-day assignments directed by the Program Director
  • Use recovery-oriented, person-centered, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and strengths-based approaches
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, clean, and compliant residential environment
  • Perform physical site maintenance according to the maintenance schedule
  • Assist with meal preparation and help Persons Served prepare meals
  • Encourage social interaction and create a collaborative environment for residents, families, friends, and community members
  • Serve as a resource for neighbors
  • Participate in trainings, supervision, and staff meetings
  • Assist with orientation of new staff
  • Complete required documentation and incident reports
  • Contribute to quality improvement goals and objectives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree in a human service discipline preferred
  • Prior experience working in a human services setting strongly preferred
  • Bilingual/bicultural applicants and applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions encouraged to apply
  • Valid driver’s license required at time of employment
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid US driver’s license maintained for at least six months
  • Adequate insurance and safe driving record if using a personal vehicle
  • Pass a driver screening background check
  • CPR required within two weeks of hire
  • First Aid required within two weeks of hire
  • MAP required within 150 days of hire
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
  • Ability to assist Persons Served with activities of daily living
  • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
  • Ability to communicate with Persons Served, staff, and external representatives
  • Ability to work professionally and confidentially
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions
  • Ability to balance competing priorities
  • Sensitivity to cultural, religious, ethnic, disability, and gender issues
  • Skills to establish supportive trusting relationships with Persons Served, families, and neighbors
