About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee nursing services for Youth CCS and Adult CCS units
- Provide 24/7 oversight of the medical and clinical aspects of the CCS units with the Program Director
- Direct and manage RNs, LPNs, Certified Medical Assistants and MAP-certified staff
- Screen and hire nursing staff in collaboration with leadership
- Manage staff performance through direction, training, coaching, recognition, performance reviews, counseling and corrective action
- Provide clinical and nursing support and supervision
- Plan and conduct monthly nursing meetings
- Delegate nursing care assignments with the Prescriber and Program Director
- Conduct timely client intakes and initial holistic assessments
- Provide first aid and respond to urgent or acute care matters
- Deliver comprehensive assessment, care planning, interventions and care coordination
- Address clients' medical and mental health care needs
- Supervise staff regarding medical and psychiatric needs, treatment plans and interventions
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care planning and community specialist referrals
- Advocate for clients and, for youth CCS, families and parents
- Provide psychoeducation on medication management, health and wellness
- Facilitate discharge and comprehensive continuing-recovery planning
- Resolve staff and client problems with community resources
- Serve as preceptor, role model and change agent
- Draft and implement nursing policies and procedures
- Ensure timely, accurate and compliant client documentation and recordkeeping
- Ensure medication security, administration, documentation and disposal comply with regulations and MAP protocols
- Ensure compliance with licensing, certification, accreditation and internal quality standards
- Represent Vinfen in professional, regulatory and funding-source organizations
- Manage adverse events, medication occurrences and critical incidents
- Schedule nursing, CMA and on-call coverage and provide backup support
- Recommend physical-site maintenance and safety improvements
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse (RN) credentials valid in Massachusetts required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) and MSN preferred
- Five or more years of experience serving individuals with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring disorders in a fast-paced clinical or facility setting
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
- CPR training required within two weeks of hire
- Crisis Intervention training required within six months of hire
- Staff Safety and Infectious Diseases training required within six months of hire
- Must successfully pass a multistate CORI, SORI, reference check, employment verification, education and credentialing background check
- Knowledge of human services, operations management, MassHealth and managed care practices
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, assessment, documentation, advocacy, empowerment and self-advocacy techniques
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment; strong IT skills
- Ability to provide leadership and team management to nursing staff
- Ability to balance and triage competing priorities
- Ability to make independent judgments and informed decisions
- Ability to work professionally and confidentially
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb and navigate narrow spaces
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to assist clients with activities of daily living
- Ability to operate a computer and office equipment
- Driving is not required
