About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide training in fire and safety regulations, shopping, money management, cooking, meal planning, household chores, activities of daily living, self-medication, and other areas
- Monitor residents’ proficiency in daily living skills
- Perform hands-on program tasks to implement support plans
- Assist persons served in becoming integrated into their communities
- Monitor physical and emotional needs and report changes to Vinfen supervisors and family/guardians
- Escort persons served in the community using public transportation, company vehicles, or personal vehicles
- Provide transportation in a personal vehicle as necessary
- Maintain records and collect data to track ISP goals
- Participate in person-specific and family-specific training and supervision
- Communicate with Vinfen supervisors and family/guardian supervisors
- Implement service plan interventions
- Provide direct instruction, assistance, modeling, and reinforcement for daily living skills
- Advocate for persons served
- Report incidents to Vinfen supervisors
- Perform assigned housecleaning tasks
- Provide program coverage including overnights, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Follow company and family/guardian policies and procedures
- Attend assigned in-service trainings
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Three months to one year experience in a related function
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; in some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training
- Valid US driver's license presented at employment
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid US driver's license maintained for at least six months
- Adequate insurance and safe driving record when using a personal vehicle
- Ability to pass a driver's screening background check
- CPR certification required within two weeks of hire
- First Aid certification required within two weeks of hire
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways
- Ability to assist clients with activities of daily living
- Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
- Required close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, plus ability to adjust focus
- Knowledge and use of advocacy, communication, empowerment, self-advocacy, participatory planning, physical personal management, household management, and crisis intervention techniques
- Teaching skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to provide role model behaviors
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues
