About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides direct service in an Intensive GLE residential setting
- Helps Persons Served overcome barriers to and prepare for living independently
- Assumes administrative officer roles and supports the Program Director
- Liaisons with families as needed
- Supports Persons Served in obtaining and understanding medical and psychiatric care
- Implements Treatment Plan support interventions
- Administers medications following Medication Administration Program policies and procedures
- Provides crisis interventions
- Provides physical site maintenance and ensures a safe, comfortable, and clean environment
- Orients Persons Served who are new to the residence
- Uses recovery-oriented, person-centered, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and strengths-based approaches
- Schedules and facilitates weekly resident group meetings, including menu input
- Performs grocery shopping and helps prepare meals
- Stores, administers, documents, and disposes of medication according to MAP requirements and company policy
- Teaches Persons Served medication management
- Assists with or accompanies residents to medical and psychiatric appointments
- Encourages resident social interaction and creates a collaborative environment
- Serves as a resource for neighbors and advocates for Persons Served
- Promotes access to healthcare and employment services
- Participates in trainings, supervision, and staff meetings
- Assists with new staff orientation
- Completes required documentation and incident reports
- Contributes to quality improvement goals
- Uses crisis intervention techniques and accesses on-call backup when needed
- Performs scheduled physical site maintenance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- One year experience as a residential counselor or related experience in a setting working with PS facing mental health challenges and medical issues preferred
- One to two years of job-specific experience in human services field preferred
- Driving is required; must possess and maintain adequate insurance when using a personal vehicle and maintain a safe driving record
- Valid US driver's license required at employment; must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained it for at least six months, and pass a driver's screening background check
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and perform physically active duties
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to assist PS with tasks of daily living
- Ability to communicate with PS, staff, and external representatives
- CPR required within two weeks of hire
- First Aid required within two weeks of hire
- MAP required within 150 days of hire
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment
- Ability to balance competing priorities and make independent judgments and decisions
- Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity
