About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct service in a GLE/SIE residential setting
- Help Persons Served overcome barriers to and prepare for independent living
- Implement Persons Served Treatment Plan interventions with support from the Team LPHA Clinician
- Assist the Program Director with administrative duties and orient new residents
- Collaborate with Integrated Team members to address Persons Served needs
- Liaise with families as needed
- Support access to medical and psychiatric care
- Store, administer, document, and dispose of medications according to MAP requirements and Vinfen protocols
- Provide crisis interventions and access on-call backup when needed
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, clean, and licensed residential environment
- Assume Medication Officer, Safety Officer, or Human Rights Officer roles as assigned
- Schedule and facilitate weekly resident group meetings, including menu input
- Perform grocery shopping and help prepare meals
- Encourage resident social interaction and advocate for Persons Served
- Attend trainings, supervision, and staff meetings
- Complete required documentation, incident reports, infection control inventories, and quality improvement activities
- Support evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Housing First, Stages of Change, WRAP, Seeking Safety, and Cognitive Behavioral interventions
- Perform physical site maintenance and other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Associate’s degree in a human service discipline preferred
- One year as a residential counselor in a setting working with PS facing mental health challenges preferred
- One to two years of job-specific experience in the human services field preferred
- Bilingual/bicultural applicants and applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions are encouraged to apply
- Driving is required using either a Vinfen van or personal vehicle
- If using a personal vehicle, must possess and maintain adequate insurance and a safe driving record subject to annual checks
- A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least six months
- Must pass a driver's screening background check
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and perform physically active duties
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to assist PS with tasks of daily living
- Ability to communicate with PS, staff, and external representatives
- CPR required within two weeks of hire
- First Aid required within two weeks of hire
- MAP required within 150 days of hire
