About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide outpatient individual MI/PSB treatment according to client treatment plans
  • Develop clinical formulations and individualized treatment plans
  • Lead group therapy for individuals with MI/PSB needs at MMHC
  • Participate as an active member of the MI/PSB team and attend weekly team meetings
  • Assist with MI/PSB-specific consultations, record reviews, evaluations, and comprehensive assessments
  • Identify treatment and risk-management needs for individuals in the Metro Boston area
  • Provide MI/PSB-specific care coordination, outreach, and engagement
  • Collaborate with collateral service providers through treatment planning, review, and informational meetings
  • Contribute clinical perspectives to team meetings and provide emergency and planned client coverage
  • Provide clinical supervision to staff and trainees
  • Provide MI/PSB consultation and clinical support to HOT, ACCS programs, and case management services
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, review, and update treatment plans
  • Respond to emergencies in accordance with MMHC policies and procedures
  • Develop and deliver MI/PSB-specific in-service training for MMHC staff, DMH staff, and ACCS providers
  • Report critical incidents and fulfill mandated-reporting responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support to supervisors and attend clinical meetings and presentations
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
  • Complete assigned responsibilities within deadlines and report barriers to supervisors
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards
  • Report safety and security concerns
  • Participate in teaching and related educational activities; psychology applicants may train psychiatric residents
  • Attend required and recommended in-service training and develop MI/PSB clinical expertise
  • Provide coverage for other MI/PSB staff
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in social work, psychology, and/or mental health counseling
  • If not in psychology, independent licensure required: LICSW or LMHC, not LCSW
  • At least three years of experience in a licensed practice preferred for non-psychology applicants
  • Ability to apply knowledge of symptoms of mental and/or emotional disorders, including risk assessment
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques, including interviewing and psychological testing
  • Knowledge of psychotherapy theory, principles and practices
  • Experience/knowledge of evidence-based practices, motivational techniques, basic behavioral analysis, and reinforcement techniques
  • Proficiency maintaining accurate records and managing confidential matters
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to provide consultation, training, and supervision
  • Ability to make decisions quickly, remain calm in crisis situations, and collaborate in groups
  • Ability to provide program leadership and explain the impact of laws, rules, regulations, policies, protocols, and guidelines on program operations
  • Knowledge of ethical principles and standards of practice for treating individuals with serious mental illness
  • Preferred: knowledge of best practices for assessing and treating mental illness with problematic sexual behaviors and/or sex-offending behaviors
  • Preferred: knowledge of agency policies, procedures, standards, rules, regulations, and safety practices
  • Only psychology applicants are eligible for an HMS appointment
