About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as a nurse educator and consultant regarding health promotion, medication administration, and acute and chronic medical/psychiatric crisis management
- Serve as Medication Administration Program Consultant for assigned sites
- Train staff to receive MAP Certification
- Monitor adherence to medication administration policies, procedures, and regulations
- Review medication policies and occurrence reports
- Perform regular site reviews regarding MAP implementation
- Retrain staff in MAP procedures and document accordingly
- Serve as liaison to EOHHS/DPH and funding agency MAP Coordinators
- Provide 24/7 on-call nursing coverage to assigned sites on a rotating schedule
- Complete Vinfen Health Assessments at intake and as needed
- Educate and train program staff regarding medical and psychiatric issues for new persons served
- Provide education, consultation, and training regarding changes in health status, health promotion, and maintenance
- Develop relationships with community resources for persons served
- Liaise between Vinfen and community healthcare providers to promote access to resources and quality medical/dental care
- Attend case conferences and clinical and divisional meetings
- Contribute to support/treatment plans for medical and psychiatric issues
- Provide staff education and consultation for medical care management during emergencies
- Maintain RN licensure and certifications through continuing education
- Maintain knowledge of human service issues and trends
- Provide direct nursing care as needed
- Provide clinical supervision to LPNs as necessary or assigned
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Three to five years experience in nursing
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- BSN preferred
- RN in Massachusetts required
- CPR required within two weeks of hire
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of time management skills
- Knowledge of professional code of ethics and best nursing practice
- Participatory, collaborative, teaching, and leadership skills
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues
- Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity
- Knowledge of human, legal, civil rights, community, and other resources
- Knowledge of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques
- Knowledge of participatory planning techniques
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, sit, reach, and maneuver through narrow spaces
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to operate a computer and office equipment
- Ability to assist clients with activities of daily living
- Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
- Required close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, plus ability to adjust focus
