About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide individual and group support to members of the Clubhouse
- Assess, develop, and implement Action Plans with members in their chosen work area
- Function as an advisor for Clubhouse members
- Promote a supportive and empowering services environment
- Help members advocate for themselves, make choices, take risks, and assume additional responsibilities
- Communicate and reinforce Clubhouse culture and philosophy with members, providers, community resources, and employer partners
- Develop, implement, and support Clubhouse policies and procedures with members and staff
- Consult, supervise, create, and implement opportunities for members to use culinary skills
- Coordinate planning, preparation, and presentation of nutritionally balanced meals
- Monitor food-unit supply inventory and budget
- Provide direct culinary arts training and support to Clubhouse members
- Maintain the culinary work unit according to health and sanitation standards defined by ServeSafe certification
- Supervision and other duties may also be involved
Requirements
What you’ll need- One to three years experience in human services field required
- Advanced training, experience, or professional credentials are required for Clubhouse Counselor II positions
- In some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or related is preferred
- Valid US driver's license must be presented at the time of employment
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least six months
- Must be able to pass a driver's screening background check
- If driving, must maintain a safe driving record subject to annual checks
- If using a personal vehicle, must possess and maintain adequate insurance
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to assist clients with tasks of daily living
- Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
- Specific close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision abilities, and ability to adjust focus
- CPR required within two weeks of hire
- First Aid required within two weeks of hire
- Crisis Intervention/Staff Safety and Infectious Diseases training required within 6 months of employment
- Other training, as assigned
- Clubhouse Counselor II Health and Wellness positions must complete training and pass the ServSafe exam within 6 months of hire
- Participatory, collaborative, teaching, and participatory planning skills
- Knowledge of Clubhouse standards and practices
- Knowledge of Psychiatric Rehabilitation principles, values, and practices
- Strong organizational and writing skills
- Knowledge of formal and informal assessment practices and documentation standards
- Knowledge and use of different learning and communication styles
- Knowledge of empowerment, self-advocacy, and peer support techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to provide a positive role model for work and learning
