About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as psychiatrist for all persons served within the PACT team
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and present results at DOM, ITT, and IAP meetings
- Supervise comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments
- Collaborate with registered nurses on physical-health assessments, referrals, and coordinated medical and psychiatric treatment
- Prescribe psychotropic medications and assess therapeutic responses and side effects
- Educate persons served about psychotropic medications
- Provide individual, group, and family supportive therapy and illness education
- Support, educate, and counsel family members
- Provide on-site and telephone crisis assessment and management, including on-call backup
- Issue Section 12 and Section 35 when indicated
- Participate in acute and long-term psychiatric inpatient treatment, admissions, hospital visits, and discharge planning
- Submit written reports and oral testimony for commitment and other legal proceedings
- Attend DOM at least twice weekly to assess status, coordinate treatment, and supervise and support PACT staff
- Participate in and supervise IAP development at twice-weekly meetings
- Assist the Team Leader with clinical program administration, staff supervision, and performance reviews
- Train staff in treatment of persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses
- Direct and collaborate with registered nurses on psychopharmacologic, medical-treatment, and medication policies and procedures
- Provide field services and home visits one day per week
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in a related setting preferred
- Strong clinical skills and experience providing treatment to persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses
- Clinical supervisory experience desirable
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of service required
- Current Federal DEA and State Controlled Substances Certificates required
- CPR required within two weeks of hire
- PACT Module Training required within 3 months of hire
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques
- Ability to operate a computer and office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time as needed
- Ability to bend, reach, file, sit, stand, and move around the facility
- Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with persons served, staff, and external representatives
- Required close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, plus ability to adjust focus
