About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate studio production and manage studio operations, including ordering supplies, producing, finishing, collecting, pricing, stocking, documenting, and storing artwork
  • Plan adequate studio coverage and daily coverage using available technology
  • Provide coverage and assistance for opening and closing the facility
  • Provide staffing escorts in and out of the facility
  • Contribute to general upkeep and maintenance of the Studio Art Center
  • Promote a supportive and empowering environment where Gateway Artists develop self-advocacy, decision-making, risk-taking, and additional studio responsibilities
  • Provide case management and maintain individual records and contact information
  • Prepare for annual team meetings, write reports, and coordinate with artists, family members, residential supports, service coordinators, provider agencies, and affiliates
  • Participate in annual, team, case management, community, staff, supervision, training, and working group meetings
  • Monitor artists' attendance and utilization
  • Participate in the Gateway Arts Community Engagement Program
  • Train and assist artists with transportation, behavioral and clinical, safety, MAP, and Human Rights issues
  • Work with managers to sustain existing systems and implement new regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of related experience in an Arts Based Service
  • Experience as a practicing performance, visual, or studio artist is very desirable
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in an art-related field preferred
  • In some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training
  • Valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment if driving for Vinfen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age if driving
  • Must have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least six months if driving
  • Must pass a driver's screening background check if driving
  • Must maintain a safe driving record subject to annual checks if driving
  • Adequate insurance required if using a personal vehicle
  • CPR within 2 weeks of hire
  • First Aid within 2 weeks of hire
  • Safety Care within 90 days of hire
  • New Employee Training (NET)
  • Knowledge of formal and informal assessment practices and fundamentals in studio art
  • Problem-solving, organizational, participatory, collaborative, teaching, and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a professional and confidential capacity
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment and strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of art, art history, disability arts, art production, and studio art center standards and practices
  • Knowledge of documentation requirements and Vinfen regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of psychiatric or developmental disabilities and habilitation
  • Knowledge of empowerment, self-advocacy, and peer support techniques
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and perform physically active duties
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
  • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
  • Ability to sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways
  • Ability to assist clients with activities of daily living
  • Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
  • Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, plus ability to adjust focus
