About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Visa’s Global Commercial & Money Movement Solutions organization
  • Provide legal support for Visa Direct, Visa Commercial Solutions and Visa Government Solutions
  • Work with business teams to understand and achieve business objectives and develop product and service offerings
  • Counsel business teams on product development, deployment, commercial, regulatory, intellectual property, privacy and contracting considerations
  • Review product-related marketing materials, public relations and corporate communications
  • Manage regulatory support and evaluate how regulatory changes may impact Visa and its partners
  • Collaborate with regional legal and business teams globally to resolve regional and local issues
  • Build understanding of the payments industry and Visa’s products and services and incorporate them into strategic advice
  • Coordinate and supervise outside counsel when required
  • Engage directly with business clients and work with CMS product counsels, Visa lawyers and compliance professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree, or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree, or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Valid license to practice in the state where the job is located or the ability to become state registered in-house counsel in good standing
  • 6 or more years of relevant post-JD work experience (or international equivalent)
  • Combination of in-house and law firm experience preferred
  • Strong academic credentials, including a J.D. degree (or international equivalent)
  • Prior experience in payments, financial services, technology or fintech industries
  • Transactional background with significant experience drafting and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements
  • Financial regulatory experience
  • Ability to drive execution in a team environment and provide balanced advice regarding risks and benefits
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and engage directly with business clients at all levels
  • Practical and creative problem-solving skills, strong business acumen and work ethic
  • Ability to manage legal and regulatory aspects of complex business initiatives in the U.S. and internationally
  • Knowledge of privacy and competition laws
  • Ability to manage a significant workload and multiple clients with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment, analytical, organizational, client counseling and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated, optimistic, curious and collaborative
  • Travel 5-10% of the time
