About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal support to account executives and internal clients in Visa, particularly regarding Brazil’s payment system
- Provide expert legal advice on regulatory matters affecting the payment industry
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes and advise the business on impacts and adjustments
- Develop, analyze, and negotiate strategic commercial agreements, including client, consulting, sponsorship, promotion, and vendor agreements
- Draft and update template contracts to improve contracting efficiency
- Review, draft, and negotiate complex technology, procurement, service delivery, benchmarking, and other contractual agreements
- Provide legal support to business lines and management in LAC regarding client relationships, business development, regulatory issues, and new products and services
- Oversee compliance with company policies, industry standards, and licensing requirements
- Develop and implement internal rules and policies for regulatory compliance
- Work with the legal department and outside counsel on local litigation and antitrust, privacy, and intellectual property matters
- Build strong working relationships across Visa’s functional areas through a partnering-based approach
Requirements
What you’ll need- J.D. with strong academic credentials
- Admitted to practice law in Brazil and member in good standing of the Brazilian Bar Association
- 8–10 years of experience at a top national law firm and/or preferably at a global corporation
- Knowledge of payment services and related processing industries is a plus
- Knowledge of banking and financial institutions laws and regulations is a plus
- Outstanding English and Portuguese speaking and writing skills; Spanish is a plus
- Ability to assess issues from legal and business perspectives, identify legal risks, and prioritize response
- Sense of urgency and responsiveness
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workloads
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including senior management
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial transactions
- Superior analytical, problem-solving, and writing skills
- Commitment to the highest ethical and personal values
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multinational environment
