About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary Account Executive and relationship owner for approximately 20–25 strategic merchant clients
  • Pursue and advance high-potential prospects outside the assigned portfolio
  • Develop and execute account plans to strengthen relationships, expand executive engagement, and drive revenue growth
  • Prioritize opportunities and allocate resources based on revenue potential, strategic value, and likelihood of execution
  • Build relationships across payments, finance, treasury, loyalty, digital commerce, and technology teams
  • Lead or support negotiation, execution, and management of commercial agreements, including Debit Routing Agreements
  • Manage Value-in-Kind opportunities from identification through measurement of outcomes
  • Prospect and advance co-brand credit and debit opportunities
  • Drive sales of Visa products, value-added services, consulting, data, risk, acceptance, and emerging commerce solutions
  • Build and maintain an opportunity pipeline while meeting revenue, product adoption, and portfolio growth objectives
  • Maintain account, contact, pipeline, forecasting, and opportunity records in Microsoft Dynamics and other sales tools
  • Use AI-enabled sales tools, automation, and data insights to improve sales productivity and portfolio management
  • Coordinate cross-functional account teams to deliver client objectives
  • Provide client, industry, and competitive insights to Visa leadership and product teams
  • Travel for client-facing engagements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree, or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Experience in strategic sales, business development, account management, relationship development, payments, or related client-facing commercial roles
  • Experience supporting merchants within one or more industries represented across the U.S. Merchant organization is a plus
  • Demonstrated success developing client relationships and contributing to revenue growth objectives
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. payments ecosystem, including merchants, issuers, acquirers, debit routing strategies, and co-brand programs
  • Experience negotiating and managing commercial agreements
  • Proven ability to develop pipeline, create business cases, and advance complex sales opportunities
  • Experience leveraging CRM, sales management, AI-enabled productivity, and analytics tools
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work at least 3 days in the office
  • Ability to travel
