About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete a 12-week immersive internship advancing Visa’s mission
- Conduct applied and fundamental research in quantum computing and information technologies
- Research quantum algorithms and applications, quantum machine learning, quantum optimization, and quantum cryptography
- Explore applications in fraud detection, risk modeling, secure transactions, and large-scale financial data analysis
- Collaborate with Visa technology and product teams, business partners, academics, and governments
- Participate in interactive workshops and learning sessions
- Contribute, collaborate, and innovate in a dynamic global environment
- Present project achievements and recommendations to Visa leaders at the program’s conclusion
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. with an expected graduation date in December 2027 or later
- Proven research experience, such as publications, patents, or conference presentations
- Knowledge in one or more areas: quantum algorithms and applications, applied quantum physics, quantum machine learning, optimization, or simulations
- Knowledge of deep learning, machine learning, generative AI, or large language models
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming, such as Python, C++, or Java
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and solve complex problems
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills
- Comfort working in dynamic environments and adapting to change
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver results collaboratively
- Digital fluency, including ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools
- Ability to work in an office at least 3 days per week
- Ability to travel 5–10% of the time
