About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor alerts generated by security tools (SIEM, EDR, XDR, Firewall)
- Perform initial analysis (triage) to distinguish false positives from genuine incidents
- Execute initial containment procedures in accordance with CSIRT playbooks
- Document and record all activities and evidence in detail in the ticketing system
- Escalate critical or complex incidents to Level 2 (L2) analysts or engineering
- Ensure a clear and accurate handover to the next shift
Requirements
What you’ll need- Basic knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and the incident lifecycle (NIST/SANS)
- Experience with log monitoring and correlation tools (SIEM)
- Familiarity with operating system (Windows/Linux) and network asset log analysis
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
- Knowledge of endpoint protection solutions (EDR/Antivirus)
- Basic security certifications: CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or Microsoft SC-200
- Familiarity with security orchestration and automation tools (SOAR)
- Previous experience in IT environments operating on a shift-based schedule
