About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee and supervisor questions, resolving routine matters and escalating complex or sensitive issues
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including pre-employment steps, onboarding, orientation, employment changes, transfers, promotions, status changes, and offboarding
  • Maintain accurate employee data and documentation in the HR information system and personnel files; conduct audits and correct discrepancies
  • Support employee relations matters through intake, fact and document gathering, case tracking, investigation assistance, correspondence, and follow-up monitoring
  • Help leaders prepare performance, attendance, corrective-action, and separation documentation with the HR Business Partner
  • Apply company policies and the collective bargaining agreement; respond to routine CBA questions and elevate disputes, grievances, and labor-relations concerns
  • Maintain working knowledge of California HR requirements, including wage-and-hour practices, meal and rest periods, sick leave, leaves of absence, accommodations, final pay, personnel records, and required notices
  • Support compliance with SFO and City-contractor obligations, including covered-worker records, notices, training, and audit support
  • Coordinate with Payroll and Operations on timekeeping, pay, schedule, deduction, and employee-status questions
  • Provide benefit and leave information, route specialized questions, and track documentation and return-to-work steps
  • Support high-volume recruitment, hiring events, new-hire processing, workforce transitions, employee communications, and SFO start-up or stabilization activities
  • Develop and maintain checklists, templates, standard operating procedures, reports, and manager resources

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Three or more years of broad human resources generalist or HR operations experience
  • Hands-on experience supporting employees under California employment requirements
  • Experience maintaining confidential employee records and completing high-volume, detail-sensitive HR transactions
  • Working knowledge of core employee relations, wage-and-hour, leave, accommodation, and performance-management practices
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, work through incomplete information, and seek guidance at the appropriate time
  • Strong customer-service, written communication, organization, and follow-through skills
  • Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Preferred: Experience supporting a union-represented, high-volume hourly, or 24/7 workforce
  • Preferred: Experience in an airport, security, transportation, government-contracting, or similarly regulated environment
  • Familiarity with SFO-specific or San Francisco City-contractor labor standards and workforce requirements
