About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Automate finance operations, including invoice ingestion into banking and bookkeeping systems, classification, matching, and exception resolution
Work with process owners across finance, IT, People, and delivery to turn workflows into specified, testable automations
Review Corporate IT changes and have automation changes peer reviewed
Build and operate integrations with Microsoft Graph, Slack, Atlassian, banking platforms, HR systems, and identity tooling
Own OAuth flows, service principals, scoped tokens, and secret rotation
Build finance-related automations with version control, peer review, automated deployment, least privilege, segregation of duties, and audit evidence
Design controls with Finance and Security Engineering
Apply models to document extraction, classification, and matching, using conventional code where appropriate
Build agentic automations with constrained tools, permissions, blast radius, and human approval gates
Classify AI use cases under the EU AI Act and maintain transparency, human oversight, documentation, and legal escalation where required
Instrument automations for immediate failure detection and visible run state
Maintain deployed automations as upstream APIs and processes change
Establish repositories, patterns, and review practices for maintainable, auditable internal automation
Challenge processes that should be simplified or eliminated instead of automated

Requirements

What you’ll need

Production software development experience at the standard of an engineering team
Fluency across more than one software ecosystem; Python and Go are common but neither is required
Deep practical experience with third-party APIs, including pagination, rate limits, idempotency, retries, and webhooks
Command of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, service accounts, API keys, and secret management
Experience with source control, code review, automated testing, controlled deployment, and separation of build and release responsibilities
Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including tool use and structured extraction
Hands-on experience with agentic patterns, tool/function calling, MCP or equivalent interfaces, state and retry handling, and agent testing
Working awareness of AI and automated-decision-making rules in workplace contexts
Ability to understand and implement business processes with subject matter experts
Track record of building reliable, secure, auditable systems
Comfort being the only engineer on a problem
Nice to have: EU AI Act risk classification, technical documentation, transparency and human oversight
Nice to have: SOX systems, IT general controls, change management, segregation of duties, and audit evidence
Nice to have: finance systems, accounts payable, expense management, bank reconciliation, and ERP integration
Nice to have: Microsoft Graph, Slack, Atlassian, or identity platform APIs
Nice to have: ISO 27001 or SOC 2 experience
Nice to have: workflow orchestration, production document processing, and experience at a company scaling past 100 people
