About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Explain program rules and regulations and facilitate participant observance
  • Coordinate meals, bed/sleeping assignments, showers, laundry, and other daily routines
  • Provide awake-shift coverage and maintain ground security
  • Conduct hourly safety and security checks
  • De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance
  • Maintain daily statistical reports
  • Perform housekeeping, maintenance, and dorm preparation tasks
  • Respond to participant questions and concerns
  • Perform clerical duties, including answering telephones, recording messages, and filing
  • Coordinate, inventory, store, and distribute participant property
  • Post removal notices for unattended belongings and bicycles
  • Document client concerns, infractions, shift observations, and incidents
  • Maintain linen documentation, inventory, and replacements
  • Oversee restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies
  • Communicate with program staff, supervisors, service providers, and government representatives
  • Assist with orientation and training of new employees
  • Support program development and maintain knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards
  • Process, assign, and distribute participant mail
  • Support participant development plans and communicate pertinent issues to staff
  • Model positive behavior as participants work toward self-sufficiency
  • Continually develop technical and interpersonal skills and attend required training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions
  • Ability to provide services without ethnic or social prejudices
  • General knowledge of issues and challenges related to homelessness, substance abuse, young adults, minorities, and persons with disabilities
  • Ability to use a range of interventions with participants with varying needs and levels of functioning
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Computer skills
  • CPR and First Aid training within ninety (90) days of employment, with re-certification as necessary
  • Annual T.B. testing
  • Must undergo a criminal background check
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license preferred
  • Teamwork skills

  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and assist residents and staff in emergencies

  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds
