About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engage with local employers to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships that promote hiring of SEP participants
- Identify businesses for client placement to achieve department objectives
- Establish relationships with local businesses in targeted industry sectors and community organizations
- Develop partnerships and secure subsidized employment opportunities for SEP participants
- Attend local networking events, chamber events, business alliances, merchant associations, and community events
- Collect W-9s, contracts, job descriptions, wages, appointments, and business licenses
- Create systems supporting regional growth and industry needs for open positions
- Collaborate with VOA programs, nonprofits, and workforce programs on hiring events, employer spotlights, job fairs, and employer engagement
- Work with the Program Supervisor on marketing campaigns promoting SEP programs
- Verify businesses have operated for at least two years and have a minimum of three employees
- Assist with monthly placement goals
- Manage the employer and client-referral database
- Present monthly reports on contacts, placements, new businesses, and hiring or networking events
- Attend DHA meetings, orientations, job prospects, staff meetings, trainings, seminars, and community development events as needed
- Build relationships with community-based organizations, schools, chambers of commerce, networking groups, SBA, WIC, SETA, NGOs, and other partners
- Create and implement strategic partnerships with businesses and small-business affiliates
- Build a database of businesses to expand the SEP regional footprint
- Collaborate with other VOA job developers to create employment pipelines
- Support the DHA Liaison and Retention Specialist in successful placements
- Create marketing and networking approaches addressing participant and small-business needs
- Secure new job orders with business partners
- Maintain knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards
- Continually develop technical and interpersonal skills
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma/GED required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with the business community as it relates to recruiting for employment and/or performing related marketing
- Strong working knowledge of employment referral sources
- Ability to establish relationships/new resources for employment
- Flexibility to work irregular hours
- Ability to function as a team member and make skillful independent decisions
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and database systems
- Valid California driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines
- Must pass all required background clearances in accordance with agency, County, State, and federal standards
- CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment
- Completion and maintenance of all required training and health clearances
