About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the team in daily Support Staff duties and lead by example in executing shift responsibilities
  • Assure quality, safe, non-judgmental, compassionate, and professional service to program participants
  • Perform safety checks inside and outside the facility
  • Bring pertinent client issues to the case management team
  • Control excessive noise or client loitering
  • Work with Support Staff when issues and concerns arise
  • Explain campus and program rules and regulations to participants
  • Ensure intakes are completed correctly
  • Coordinate bed/sleeping assignments, showers, laundering, and other daily routines
  • De-escalate and respond to crises, providing emergency assistance as needed
  • Maintain daily reports, shift logs, observation logs, and incident reports
  • Respond to client and employee questions and concerns
  • Check people into campus as needed
  • Communicate with Supervisors, Managers, and the Director
  • Assist with Support Staff assignments, duty direction, and scheduling
  • Address scheduling emergencies and provide emergency coverage
  • Serve as the point person for emergencies and notify appropriate leadership
  • Report staffing, client, personnel, and programming issues
  • Support staff in implementing resident development plans and model positive behavior
  • Maintain program operations in compliance with company policies
  • Secure approval for policy exceptions and notify management of workflow or resource needs
  • Direct available resources and perform assigned Support Staff leadership duties
  • Adhere to ethical standards, program philosophy, and confidentiality laws
  • Assist with orientation and training of new employees
  • Identify ongoing training needs and support quality operations development
  • Maintain knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards
  • Attend staff meetings and assigned training and complete required certifications
  • Utilize evidence-based practices in daily work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive knowledge of program policies and procedures, or ability to interpret and ensure adherence to them
  • Experience preferred in a similar program
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions
  • Ability to provide services without ethnic or social prejudices
  • General knowledge of issues and challenges unique to homelessness, substance abuse, young adults, minorities, and people with disabilities
  • Ability to utilize a range of interventions for clients with varying needs and levels of functioning
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours
  • Willingness to function as a team member
  • Computer skills required
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines
  • Must pass required background clearances in accordance with agency, County, State, and federal standards
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Completion and maintenance of all required training and health clearances
