About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Provide compassionate, professional service to program participants
  • Maintain knowledge of fire warning, suppression systems, and evacuation procedures
  • Maintain routine communication with the Program Supervisor
  • Provide awake, active/mobile shift coverage and maintain grounds security
  • Maintain shift logs and complete incident reports
  • Help prepare apartments for resident move-ins
  • Conduct hourly security checks
  • Explain and enforce rules and regulations
  • Transport clients or arrange transportation; maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel, mileage logs, and report mechanical issues
  • Assist residents with minor problems and routine questions
  • Receive maintenance requests and manage equipment check-out and inspections
  • Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks
  • Provide a safe, non-judgmental environment
  • De-escalate and respond appropriately to crisis situations
  • Follow ethical standards and confidentiality laws
  • Perform routine clerical duties
  • Address and report client behavioral or social issues
  • Support client educational, vocational, housing, and other goals
  • Assist with conflict resolution

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions
  • Ability to provide services to clients without ethnic or social prejudices
  • General knowledge of issues and challenges unique to foster youth population, homelessness, substance abuse, minorities, and people with disabilities
  • Ability to utilize a range of interventions to work with clients of varying needs and levels of functioning
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours
  • Willingness to function as a team member
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines
  • Must pass all required background clearances in accordance with agency, County, State, and federal standards
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Completion and maintenance of all required training and health clearances
