About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Explain program rules and regulations to residents and facilitate observance of the rules
- Coordinate meal preparation and service, bed/sleeping assignments, showers, laundering, and other daily routines
- Provide awake shift coverage and maintain ground security
- Conduct hourly safety and security checks
- De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance to participants and co-workers
- Maintain daily reports and statistical information
- Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks and prepare dorm areas
- Respond to participant questions and concerns
- Perform clerical duties, including answering telephones, recording messages, and filing
- Manage and inventory participant property and provide property upon request
- Maintain property safety and security and post removal notices for unattended belongings
- Document client concerns and infractions, and complete shift logs, observation logs, and incident reports
- Oversee linen documentation, restrooms/showers, laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies
- Notify management of workflow problems and resource needs
- Communicate with program staff, supervisors, service providers, and government representatives
- Assist with orientation and training of new employees
- Support fire, safety, and health standards
- Process, assign, and distribute participant mail
- Support participant development plans and notify staff of pertinent issues
- Role model positive behavior to help clients work toward self-sufficiency
- Attend staff meetings and assigned training and complete required certifications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions
- Ability to provide services to participants without ethnic or social prejudices
- General knowledge of issues and challenges unique to homelessness, substance abuse, young adults, minorities, and persons with disabilities
- Ability to utilize a range of interventions to work with participants with varying needs and levels of functioning
- Flexibility to work irregular hours
- Ability to function as a team member
- Computer skills
- CPR and First Aid training within ninety (90) days of employment, with re-certification as necessary
- Annual T.B. testing
- Must undergo a criminal background check
- Teamwork skills

- Ability to de-escalate crises and assist residents and staff in emergencies

- Analytical and decision-making ability
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds
- Physically able to safely maneuver the weight distribution of a client in an emergency
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit frequently
- Ability to kneel occasionally
- Ability to climb stairs as needed
- A valid Nevada driver’s license is preferred
