About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain highly concurrent and distributed backend services
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape technical decisions within the team
- Design, develop and test new features with a strong focus on quality and reliability
- Profile and optimise system performance, diagnosing and resolving issues proactively
- Support the release and documentation of developed features
- Estimate effort required to develop and implement solutions
- Contribute to coding standards and development processes
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solid programming skills in Go (Golang) or strong experience with JVM technologies (Java/Spring Boot) and a genuine desire to learn Go
- Experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale
- Experience with highly concurrent, distributed architectures and systems
- Experience with containerised applications
- Experience building REST/HTTP based services
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis)
- Some experience contributing to architectural decisions within a team
- Strong test suite design skills, including Unit, Integration and Smoke tests
- Clear and effective communication of problems and solutions across team members
- Nice to have: Familiarity with AWS services (SQS, SNS, DynamoDB)
- Nice to have: Exposure to Kafka, Kubernetes or Terraform
- Nice to have: Understanding of Continuous Delivery in cloud environments
- Nice to have: General understanding of the telecommunications industry
