About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage overall satisfaction, growth, and retention of assigned accounts
  • Identify new business opportunities, including expedited services, new lanes, northbound freight, and partial loads
  • Strengthen client relationships and ensure effective communication between customers and internal teams
  • Identify competitor activity and service issues and collaborate with senior leadership on corrective actions
  • Schedule and conduct in-person customer visits at least 3–4 times annually and additional meetings as needed
  • Cultivate relationships with key decision-makers
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the Customer Service Department
  • Conduct monthly calls with all house accounts
  • Maintain a minimum of 20 face-to-face account meetings per month
  • Develop an understanding of clients’ purchasing, logistics, and planning functions
  • Maintain an updated geographic directory for all accounts
  • Prepare and deliver On-Time Performance and Booking Compliance reports
  • Track Long-Term Agreement expiration dates and initiate renewals
  • Monitor route consistency and address service lapses
  • Manage claim resolutions and escalate persistent issues
  • Assist with collections for overdue accounts
  • Spend 50% or more of the time making in-person customer visits
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Operations, and Finance for seamless service delivery
  • Participate in operational meetings and share client feedback
  • Understand profit margins and quoting processes to support competitive pricing
  • Work with the sales team on Share of Wallet opportunities
  • Maintain 100% retention of assigned house accounts, increase freight volume, position Vortex as the first choice for logistics needs, and maintain account KPIs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in materials, materials planning, logistics, or purchasing/procurement
  • Proven record of accomplishment in maintaining and expanding B2B relationships
  • Experience with Mexican customs and international trade regulations highly preferred
  • Automotive experience is a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish — required
  • Reliable automobile to visit customers each week
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills
  • Ability to make prompt, informed decisions under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, optimistic, and self-motivated work ethic
  • Ability to travel as needed for client visits
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce or HubSpot
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding, partial loads, and expedited freight services
  • Understanding of EDI systems and performance reporting
  • Understanding of logistics and/or materials planning and purchasing for a manufacturing operation
  • Must be located in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico
  • Monday-Friday availability, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Willingness to travel approximately 60% to meet with customers
  • Own vehicle required for customer/client meetings
