About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess site mechanical and thermal infrastructure for capacity, constraints, upgrades, and feasibility
- Serve as technical authority for cooling, HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, heat-rejection, controls, and related systems
- Establish basis of design, engineering standards, specifications, reference designs, and acceptance criteria
- Develop scalable solutions balancing capacity, reliability, resiliency, efficiency, safety, cost, schedule, and growth
- Direct engineering performed by Engineers of Record, consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors
- Lead technical decisions from feasibility through commissioning and turnover
- Incorporate field lessons learned into future designs and standards
- Build the partner ecosystem and engineering governance required to scale
- Partner across Energy, Engineering, Construction, Facilities, Procurement, and external partners from feasibility through operational turnover
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of engineering and construction experience in the energy, mobility, or building infrastructure sectors
- Experience with site inspection, project acceptance tests, and commissioning procedures
- Experience with equipment used for site inspections, acceptance testing, and commissioning
- Experience analyzing cooling and mechanical systems through technical reviews, data analysis, and on-site inspections
- Familiarity with technical due diligence for HVAC, liquid cooling, hydronic, plumbing, controls, and heat-rejection systems
- Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, building, fire, and energy codes and standards
- Experience operating at scale within a highly matrixed organization
- Strong team-oriented collaboration skills
- Demonstrated experience designing, assessing, or governing complex mechanical and thermal infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling, hydronic systems, pumps, piping, heat rejection, plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure
- Experience evaluating capacity, reliability, redundancy, system configuration, and major infrastructure upgrades
- Experience with large-scale, mission-critical, industrial, or high-capacity thermal infrastructure
- Experience with liquid-based cooling, heat exchangers, advanced heat-rejection systems, or other high-density thermal applications
- Experience developing engineering standards, reference designs, specifications, and commissioning requirements
- Experience leading Engineers of Record, consultants, contractors, equipment vendors, and cross-functional technical teams
