About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Walmart’s lead advocate on federal healthcare policy before Congress, the Administration, and other key stakeholders
- Develop and execute strategies for legislative and regulatory issues impacting Walmart’s Health & Wellness and Benefits teams
- Build and maintain relationships with Health & Wellness and Benefits teams to align policy strategy with business priorities
- Monitor and analyze federal legislation and regulations related to employer-sponsored insurance plans, reimbursement systems, Medicare, Medicaid, and pharmacy operations
- Provide guidance on relevant federal healthcare policy developments
- Represent Walmart in industry coalitions, trade associations, public policy events, and other external forums
- Advise internal teams and help shape Walmart’s healthcare strategy through policy insight and engagement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, or related field and 5 years’ experience managing projects or campaigns in politics, public affairs, or related field OR 7 years’ experience managing projects or campaigns in politics, public affairs, or related field
- Demonstrated experience leading healthcare policy, with direct experience on Capitol Hill or in a federal healthcare agency
- Strong understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process
- Proven ability to build relationships, lead cross-functional teams, and influence across stakeholders
- Demonstrated expertise in coalition building, negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Strategic thinking, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Collaborative approach in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable insights
- Commitment to Walmart’s mission
- Advanced graduate degree (preferred)
- Experience leading large-scale/national or multi-market government affairs initiatives (preferred)
- People management experience (preferred)
