About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop services enabling millions of sellers to onboard and conduct business with Walmart
  • Write production-grade code, test it, and deploy it to production
  • Lead end-to-end technical design for complex initiatives, including API contracts, UI interfaces, data models, distributed system topologies, and cross-cutting concerns
  • Lead design and development of scalable, cloud-native, AI-powered software systems and intelligent automation solutions
  • Drive operational excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural decisions
  • Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices for resilient, observable, performant services
  • Mentor engineers and foster innovation and continuous learning
  • Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks, automate manual processes, and improve developer experience
  • Collaborate across teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and customer needs
  • Own architecture, design, development, and delivery of the seller onboarding journey
  • Optimize APIs and establish architectural standards supporting international marketplace growth

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; or 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Hands-on coding expertise and current coding practice
  • Ability and willingness to own end-to-end implementation, from detailed design and production code through automated quality and production deployment
  • Extensive experience leading scalable, cloud-native software systems and AI-powered solutions
  • Strong expertise in DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and incident management
  • Experience identifying bottlenecks and automating manual processes
  • Problem-solving and debugging capabilities focused on platform design and development
  • Collaboration and mentorship skills
  • Technical judgment and adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Preferred: Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
