About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop services enabling millions of sellers to onboard and conduct business with Walmart Fulfillment Services
- Own the technical vision and execution for mission-critical, cross-cutting services supporting Seller Center UI and APIs
- Lead end-to-end technical design covering API contracts, UI interfaces, data models, distributed system topologies, and cross-cutting concerns
- Define reference architectures, design patterns, implementation guardrails, and architectural standards
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and cloud-native patterns at Walmart's operational scale
- Author and review RFCs and architecture decision records
- Write, test, deploy, and maintain production-grade code
- Solve complex performance, reliability, and scalability problems
- Conduct deep-dive code reviews and raise the team's technical bar
- Own the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and observability
- Lead technical investigations for P0/P1 incidents, own root cause analysis, and define permanent fixes
- Design for resilience, define non-functional requirements, instrument systems for observability, and build operational runbooks
- Use AI across schema design, code generation and review, testing, documentation, incident analysis, and API design
- Architect AI-native capabilities such as API health monitoring, seller onboarding assistance, smart alerting, and anomaly detection
- Evaluate and integrate AI/ML capabilities into services
- Advocate AI-augmented engineering through demos, pairing sessions, written guides, and community contributions
- Grow technical depth across the organization through tech talks, design reviews, RFCs, and hands-on pairing
- Bridge platform and product needs by translating technical constraints and product ambitions into sound engineering strategies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Expertise in distributed systems, API design, and platform engineering
- Proficiency with GitHub Copilot, Wibey, and LLM-based tooling
- Experience with cloud microservices, seller portals, and AI-driven analytics
- Ability to design resilient, observable, scalable systems and define non-functional requirements
- Ability to lead P0/P1 incident investigations, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes
- Knowledge of AI/ML capabilities and AI-augmented engineering workflows
- Knowledge of digital accessibility, WCAG 2.2 AA standards, and assistive technologies is preferred
- Ability to work from the Bangalore office for daily work
