About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the health and availability of wired and wireless network connectivity for Walmart US stores, clubs, and distribution centers
- Identify, prioritize, and troubleshoot network incidents based on impact to associates and customers
- Use monitoring tools to detect issues proactively and resolve them within defined SLAs
- Coordinate with counterpart teams, business partners, US engineers, and vendors to resolve issues
- Maintain network devices in compliance for efficient operation
- Provide shift handover status to the US shift
- Troubleshoot wireless slowness, offline access points, Internet VRFs, DHCP/DNS issues, PoE, wireless controllers, and store/DC connectivity
- Support wireless escalations and self-service incidents through Outlook and ServiceNow
- Take calls from associates and vendors and drive wireless issues to resolution
- Validate store, club, and distribution-center wireless connectivity and device performance
- Troubleshoot packet loss, overutilization, down circuits, routing, voice, IP addressing, end-device connectivity, cabling, hardware, and spanning-tree issues
- Work with third-party vendors, L3, Cisco TAC, field support, project supervisors, store planners, systems teams, and wireless engineering
- Monitor ticket queues and maintain tickets within SLA
- Configure ports and assist with down systems and power situations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 3–4 years of pure network engineering experience in a NOC environment or project implementation team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, electrical engineering, or related area, OR 3 years’ experience in large-scale networking environments or related area
- Networking background with hands-on Routing & Switching experience; CCNA/JNCIA/CCNP knowledge or certification
- Experience with routers, switches, and access points
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Meraki platforms
- Experience with RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP routing protocols
- Strong troubleshooting skills on Juniper, Cisco, and Meraki devices
- SDN knowledge
- Understanding and troubleshooting of VLAN, VTP, STP, RSTP, EtherChannels (PAgP and LACP), and stacking
- Basic knowledge of broadcast, ARP, and MAC addressing
- Wired and wireless networking knowledge
- Hands-on VLAN troubleshooting experience
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting HSRP
- Hands-on MPLS experience
- Experience with IPSEC and DMVPN
- Wireless troubleshooting knowledge, including CAPWAP, LWAPP, Cisco APs, Mist APs, Meraki MR46 APs, and wireless controllers
- Experience using ServiceNow and Wireshark
- WLAN IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax testing experience
- Independent project handling and analytical ability
- Linux and Python/AI automation knowledge desirable
- Knowledge of Nexus, automation, and SD-WAN technologies is an added advantage
- Python, Perl, or TCL scripting knowledge is an added advantage
