About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead platform engineering efforts, delivering scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and AI/ML frameworks aligned with strategic roadmaps
- Drive the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams
- Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
- Architect intelligent software systems integrating AI agents and model-driven design
- Enhance customer and associate experiences through intelligent software systems
- Provide strategic technical leadership and mentorship
- Influence architectural standards and promote engineering excellence
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable success metrics
- Identify improvement opportunities and support continuous learning and adaptation
- Support Walmart's long-term technology vision and operational excellence
- Develop and operate platforms, automation, and compliance controls for identity governance, access certifications, privileged access controls, and compliance solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership
- Experience delivering scalable and reliable cloud-native architectures
- Ability to design and implement distributed systems optimized for real-time data processing and AI/ML integration
- Strong expertise in software development lifecycle management, including CI/CD, testing, and incident response
- Proficiency in technical solution design and model-driven design
- Engineering best practices
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions across teams
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts clearly
- Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and high-quality technical standards
- Preferred: Master's degree and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Preferred: Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, digital accessibility, and Walmart accessibility standards and guidelines
