About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support architectural designs and provide advisory for retail domain areas
Design multi-domain systems and lead cross-cutting engineering solutions
Build scalable infrastructure using AI agents and frameworks aligned with strategic roadmaps
Build cross-border trade platforms and services for Walmart’s global marketplace
Develop solutions enabling third-party sellers to sell and manage products worldwide
Collaborate with partner platform teams to improve seller and customer experiences
Guide and mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and lead design discussions
Drive execution of business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs
Act as a technical authority and provide direction to the team
Drive adoption of coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices
Create and maintain technical architecture aligned with business goals and scalability requirements
Architect complex software systems for performance, security, and scalability
Produce high-quality software through unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration
Develop technical documentation and presentations communicating architectural decisions
Lead discovery phases of major projects and define project scopes and milestones with cross-functional teams
Collaborate with Product Management, UX/UI, Quality Assurance, and DevOps teams
Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Research emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies

Requirements

What you’ll need

12+ years of experience in designing and developing highly scalable applications
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and distributed computing
In-depth expertise in Java, JEE, Spring, distributed databases, Cassandra, and Kafka
Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes
Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and observability tools
Experience deploying cloud-native applications on GCP and Azure
Familiarity with JUnit, Mocha, TestNG, and Selenium
Experience building event-based distributed systems with Kafka
Experience developing RESTful service contracts using Swagger and OpenAPI
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum)
Hands-on experience writing and reviewing designs and code
End-to-end ownership of at least one cloud-based project
Experience building extensible platforms and data pipelines
Hands-on experience with AI/ML/GenAI frameworks
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Ability to work from the Bangalore office for daily work
