About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a senior technical leader for Walmart’s TAX360 and Tax Data Hub
  • Shape the architecture and engineering direction of Walmart’s next-generation tax technology platform
  • Solve complex engineering problems spanning distributed systems, cloud platforms, data engineering, workflow orchestration, application architecture, security, governance, and auditability
  • Translate business and tax-domain challenges into scalable technical strategies
  • Guide engineering teams from architecture and experimentation through implementation, production readiness, and long-term platform evolution
  • Lead architecture and technical strategy across complex, distributed applications and data platforms
  • Translate business capabilities into scalable architectures and identify appropriate technology patterns
  • Make trade-offs across performance, scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, developer productivity, and cost
  • Drive architectural decisions across services, applications, APIs, data platforms, workflow engines, compute platforms, and cloud infrastructure
  • Establish reusable patterns enabling multiple teams and tax domains to build capabilities consistently
  • Build a secure, scalable, governed technology ecosystem supporting Walmart’s tax organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Scala, Spark, and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with GCP services: Dataproc, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and Vertex AI
  • Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub, and Azure DevOps
  • Solid understanding of data lakes, data lakehouses, data warehousing, ETL, Kappa and Lambda data processing concepts, and data modeling
  • Practical experience with LangChain, LangGraph, RAG architectures, and Agentic AI systems
  • At least 4 years on GCP
  • Ability to work with integrity, respect for individuals, and a customer-first mindset
  • Master's degree and 3 years' experience is listed as preferred, not required
  • Google Professional certification is a plus, not required
