Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, cloud-native architectures, and AI/ML-enhanced applications
  • Write production-quality code, build automated tests, and take implementations through production deployment
  • Lead platform engineering efforts delivering scalable infrastructure and reusable tooling
  • Drive the full software development lifecycle across teams
  • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, reliability, performance, and real-time data processing
  • Architect and integrate AI/ML-enhanced applications supporting millions of users
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable success metrics
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, development velocity, quality, and operational excellence
  • Maintain architectural integrity and align engineering efforts with Walmart’s long-term technology vision
  • Develop fulfillment solutions integrating transportation, inventory, warehouse operations, billing, and delivery for third-party sellers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; or 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Strong coding skills and ability to deliver production-quality code
  • Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, scalable cloud-native architectures, and reusable infrastructure
  • Expertise in software development lifecycle management, including CI/CD, testing, observability, and incident response
  • Strong background in AI/ML integration and intelligent software systems
  • Experience with Python, Java, and C++
  • Ability to leverage advanced development tools to enhance quality and velocity
  • Technical mentorship and architectural decision-making skills
  • Problem-solving and requirements analysis capabilities
  • Effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Preferred: master’s degree and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
