About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead platform engineering efforts delivering scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
Architect and implement cloud-native distributed systems with high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance
Oversee the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response
Integrate AI agents and intelligent applications using modern programming languages and model-driven design
Provide technical leadership and mentorship
Influence architectural standards to promote maintainability and interoperability
Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, measure success, and drive continuous improvement
Ensure technical ownership, sound decision-making, and adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs
Transform complex marketplace data into actionable insights and production-ready models
Support seller success, customer experience, trust, safety, and growth
Define success metrics, conduct experiments, and create predictive and causal solutions
Collaborate with product, engineering, and business units

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology Management, or related area and 3 years of experience in software engineering or related area; OR bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of those areas and 5 years of post-bachelor’s progressively responsible experience
Minimum qualification alternative: Bachelor's degree in a listed field and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Extensive experience leading platform engineering initiatives, including shared infrastructure and scalable ML frameworks
Expertise in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design
Proficiency in software development lifecycle management, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and incident response
Ability to architect AI/ML-integrated applications using Python, Java, and C++
Experience with model-driven design and modern development tools
Experience building highly available, high-performance, redundant, and scalable distributed systems
Experience documenting high-level and low-level technical designs
Experience designing and developing high-performance microservices using Java, Golang, and Scala
Experience implementing low-latency, high-reliability REST APIs in Golang
Experience building event-driven systems using Kafka
Experience integrating Cassandra and DB2 databases and optimizing query performance
Experience optimizing Golang microservices using profiling, concurrency, and caching
Experience refactoring monolith services into scalable Golang microservices
Experience integrating Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana for production monitoring
Experience deploying containerized services on Kubernetes
Experience performing code reviews in Golang, Java, and Scala
Experience mentoring junior associates
Experience collaborating with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines
