About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures for business analytics and machine learning
  • Extract, transform, and integrate data from internal and external sources
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, accessibility, and relevance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Walmart/VIZIO to translate business requirements into data solutions
  • Develop and optimize logical and physical data models
  • Implement data governance practices and regulatory compliance
  • Use SQL, Python, Spark, and Apache Airflow for coding, testing, and deployment
  • Monitor and improve data processes
  • Design highly scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure processing millions of operations per minute and petabytes of data
  • Build event streaming applications and systems handling massive data volumes
  • Bring enterprise data into the Big Data ecosystem
  • Monitor data quality, fix discrepancies, perform validation and root-cause analysis, and implement data preparation and cleanliness
  • Review data at granular and aggregate levels and manage versioning

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related field; or 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field; or Master's degree in Computer Science and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related field
  • 2 years' experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics
  • Extensive experience in data engineering, data integration, modeling, pipeline development, and ETL processes
  • High proficiency in PySpark, SparkSQL, and/or Scala
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or Java
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS/GCP Cloud Services
  • 5+ years of experience within Data Engineering and prior experience with Big Data, Data Lakes, and Delta Lakes
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Expertise in cloud and big data platforms, data lakes, and data architecture
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
  • Experience with Terraform and Apache Airflow
  • Proven capability to analyze complex data systems and deliver actionable business insights
  • Experience using Databricks and Snowflake is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and prior experience with agents and LLMs is preferred
