About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the data engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining data applications
- Champion AI use in data engineering applications
- Lead engineering and operational excellence efforts
- Gather product requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Architect and implement backend solutions
- Mentor and coach junior developers
- Set and enforce coding standards and best practices
- Participate in code reviews and bug fixing
- Design, build, test, and deploy solutions at scale
- Monitor, identify, and escalate issues and systemic root causes
- Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams across geographies
- Work with the data science team to implement data analytics pipelines
- Enable data scientists, business, and product partners to leverage the platform
- Lead discovery phases for medium to large projects and produce high-level designs
Requirements
What you’ll need- BE or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related field, or 5 years' experience in software engineering or related field, or Master's degree in Computer Science and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related field
- 2 years' experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics
- Experience with programming languages and frameworks such as Spark, Hive, BigQuery, Java, and Python
- Experience bootstrapping production and non-production environments in public/private cloud
- Solid knowledge of Linux systems
- Ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed, multi-tier architectures
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving capability
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating with multiple teams
- Knowledge of industry trends in the online world
