Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and lead a forward-looking communications strategy for Walmart Connect across earned, owned, executive, and advertiser-facing channels
  • Define a differentiated narrative for Walmart’s role in commerce media, grounded in customer value, advertiser outcomes, and Walmart’s understanding of commerce
  • Translate complex advertising, technology, data, and measurement capabilities into clear stories for business, media, and industry audiences
  • Advise senior leaders on messaging, positioning, and communications strategy
  • Identify moments and stories demonstrating Walmart’s differentiation beyond individual product announcements
  • Develop thought leadership platforms for Walmart Connect executives
  • Build reputation, shape industry perception, and communicate Walmart’s advertising business and commerce-media role
  • Support strategic communication efforts and engagement across multiple platforms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field and 6 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area OR 8 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • 10+ years of communications leadership experience, ideally across advertising, media, technology, retail, consumer brands, or other rapidly evolving industries
  • Strong knowledge of the advertising and media landscape
  • Exceptional storytelling instincts and ability to explain complex businesses and technologies
  • Deep media relations experience
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence across a large, matrixed organization
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Direct media experience preferred
  • Government or media relations experience in a Fortune 500 company preferred
  • Managerial experience running media components of political election or grassroots advocacy campaigns preferred
  • Must comply with Walmart’s drug-free workplace and no-tolerance policy regarding illegal drugs and alcohol on the job
