About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Site Lead for Ads and Walmart Plus in Chennai, setting site vision, culture and operating rhythm
- Own functional leadership of Offsite Ads engineering from Chennai
- Define technical strategy, multi-year roadmap and architecture for DSP, SSP, DMP and real-time auctioning platforms
- Partner with US product, business and engineering leaders on priorities, roadmaps and cross-geography execution
- Lead and scale the Chennai organization through managers and senior technical leaders
- Drive availability, latency, reliability, security, privacy and cost efficiency for real-time advertising platforms
- Ensure large-scale batch and streaming data processing for targeting, measurement, attribution and reporting
- Champion AI/ML innovation and AI-first engineering practices
- Translate business strategy and advertiser needs into prioritized investments
- Establish architecture, quality, DevOps/SRE and responsible AI best practices
- Drive multiple concurrent programs and business plans while managing budgets, headcount and risks
- Develop internal and external partnerships and sponsor community outreach initiatives
- Research industry best practices and drive continuous improvement
- Create an inclusive, collaborative environment across geographies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; or 9 years’ experience in software engineering or related area and 4 years’ supervisory experience
- 18+ years of experience in software engineering, including significant experience leading large, multi-layer engineering organizations and distributed teams
- Deep AdTech expertise across DSP, SSP and DMP platforms, real-time bidding and auctions, audience targeting, measurement and attribution
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-throughput, low-latency real-time serving systems and large-scale batch and streaming data processing
- Experience with Spark, Kafka and NoSQL stores such as Cassandra
- Strong DevOps/SRE fundamentals
- Practical understanding of AI/ML in advertising and AI-enabled engineering productivity
- Ability to set multi-year technical strategy, manage budgets and influence senior stakeholders
- Experience partnering with US/global leaders and leading teams across time zones
- Track record of hiring senior talent, developing leaders and building an inclusive, high-performance culture
- Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies and digital accessibility best practices is preferred
