About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Architecture Management strategy and connect Walmart’s design direction with architectural partners and capabilities
- Shape AOR strategy and assignments based on expertise, capacity, performance, and business needs
- Lead consultant partnerships, onboarding, mentorship, performance, document quality, and accountability
- Provide architectural leadership and professional judgment across design, constructability, code, standards, and execution challenges
- Partner with Design, Prototype, Engineering, Construction, and business teams
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of consultants
- Oversee consultant contracts, fees, and performance expectations
- Drive continuous improvement across Walmart’s architectural partner network
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed architect
- Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Architecture, or a related field and 3 years’ experience in retail store design or a related area, OR 5 years’ experience in retail store design or a related area
- Strong architectural expertise and experience leading complex, multi-project portfolios
- Proven success building and managing high-performing AOR and consultant partnerships
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates and external design partners
- Strong understanding of architectural documentation, constructability, building codes, and quality expectations
- Strategic mindset connecting design decisions, consultant capabilities, and business priorities
- Ability to navigate complex challenges and influence across functions and leadership levels
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Project Management, retail industry, and supervising associates preferred
- Architectural Services - CADD - Certification preferred
