About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development, assessment, and validation of advanced analytical models
  • Design and implement data visualization solutions for communicating complex insights and supporting decisions
  • Translate business requirements into actionable data science projects aligned with strategic objectives
  • Guide and mentor team members on modeling techniques, feature engineering, and data quality standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify data sources, ensure data integrity, and deploy scalable models into production
  • Drive continuous improvement through emerging machine learning methods and model-performance optimization
  • Lead analytics initiatives for Walmart's Last Mile Delivery and Physical Asset Deployment
  • Support depot strategy, site selection, demand forecasting, asset deployment, and Spark Network optimization
  • Enhance fulfillment efficiency, operational performance, and data-driven decision-making

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics-related field; or Master's degree in one of these fields and 3 years' experience; or 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field
  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced statistical methods
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, or PowerBI
  • Strong knowledge of model assessment techniques including ROC curve, Chi-square, and root mean square error
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable data science projects
  • Expertise in stakeholder management and communicating technical insights to non-technical business audiences
  • Proven leadership in mentoring teams and driving continuous improvement in analytics and data quality
  • Solid understanding of business metrics, project management, and business intelligence applications
  • Preferred: data science, machine learning, optimization models, supervisory experience, open source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch
  • Preferred: successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
