About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research supporting the development, renovation, and growth of Food & Consumables private brands
  • Use focus groups, ethnographies, concept testing, shelf testing, name testing, and post-launch testing to uncover customer needs, shopping behaviors, and industry trends
  • Leverage syndicated data, advanced analytics, visualization tools, and AI-enabled approaches to generate actionable insights
  • Advise cross-functional teams and drive customer-centric business decisions and best practices
  • Build executive and vendor partnerships
  • Manage research priorities
  • Translate complex findings into compelling stories that influence senior leadership up to the SVP level
  • Support omni-channel brand growth across Walmart’s retail ecosystem
  • Foster collaboration, continuous improvement, integrity, and high performance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field; or Master’s degree in one of these fields and 1 year of experience; or 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field
  • Strong background in quantitative and qualitative primary research
  • Expertise across research methodologies, databases, and data visualization tools
  • Experience applying syndicated data and panel data tools to business strategies
  • Ability to lead complex consulting projects, ideally in retail and/or branding contexts
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, storytelling, and organizational skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally, influencing senior leadership, and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing third-party research vendors
  • Experience using classic and innovative/AI research methodologies
  • Preferred: experience with brand building/innovation-focused insight processes
  • Preferred: data science, machine learning, optimization models, and open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and Torch
  • Preferred: successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, or Business Administration
