About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute community engagement strategies
  • Lead and conduct Community Champions trainings for store and club associates
  • Provide tools, resources, guidance, and event support
  • Oversee local giving budgets and recommend investments aligned with business priorities and corporate strategy
  • Localize and amplify national initiatives involving belonging, health and wellness, opportunity, sustainability, and local sourcing
  • Advise leaders on community opportunities
  • Collaborate across functions to coordinate engagement and communications
  • Build relationships with community leaders
  • Identify volunteerism and community-impact opportunities
  • Strengthen Walmart’s local relationships, reputation, and community engagement across US markets
  • Model Walmart’s values, ethics, integrity, and compliance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, or related area and 5 years’ experience in public affairs, community relations, corporate social responsibility, stakeholder engagement, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in those areas
  • Strong written, oral, visual, and social media communication skills
  • Previous experience training, teaching, or leading small or large groups
  • Lifelong learning mindset
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel domestically 60–75% of the time, including consecutive overnight stays
  • Government Relations, Lobbying, and Media Relations are preferred qualifications
