About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage a high-performing team of 10–12 engineers across Java and Mainframe technology stacks
Drive design, development, implementation, and documentation
Establish engineering and operational excellence practices using product, engineering, and scrum metrics
Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community
Engage Product and Business stakeholders to set priorities and deliver scalable, resilient products
Work with Architects and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions meeting QCD within architectural guidelines
Work with senior leadership to define future product roadmaps
Participate in hiring, mentoring, and building high-performing agile teams
Participate in organizational events such as hackathons and demo days
Gather requirements from Business owners and technical teams in India and globally
Process and reconcile supplier merchandise against invoices to ensure timely and accurate payments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area (Option 1)
7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area and 2 years’ supervisory experience (Option 2)
Minimum 12+ years of experience in software development and at least 5+ years of experience in managing engineering teams
Prior experience managing high performing agile technology teams
Hands-on experience building Java-Scala-Spark based backend systems
Experience working with cloud-based solutions desirable
Proficiency in Javascript, NodeJS, ReactJS and NextJS desirable
Understanding of CS fundamentals, microservices, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving
Exposure to CI/CD development environments/tools including Git, Maven, and Jenkins
Experience writing modular and testable code and unit, functional, and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Mock MVC
Experience with microservices architecture, distributed concepts, design principles, design patterns, and cloud-native development concepts
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, concurrency, garbage collection, RESTful services, data caching services, and ORM tools
Experience with relational databases and complex OLAP, OLTP, and SQL queries
Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB
Experience with caching technologies such as Redis and Memcache
Knowledge of pub/sub systems such as Kafka
Experience using monitoring and alert tools such as Prometheus and Splunk, with debugging and troubleshooting skills
Exposure to containerization tools such as Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes
Knowledge of public cloud platforms such as Azure and GCP is an added advantage
Preferred: Master’s degree and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Preferred knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
