About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap with cross-functional team members
- Lead technical direction and architecture with engineering team members
- Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles affecting delivery of high-quality software
- Educate and advocate for engineering best practices within the microservices ecosystem
- Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks for scalable, secure, and reusable development
- Manage cloud cost optimization and improve automation, telemetry, and tooling
- Mentor engineers and guide architectural decisions
- Promote technical quality through rigorous testing and code reviews
- Foster continuous improvement across processes, tools, and products
- Manage platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems across multiple teams
- Maintain the T0 system supporting catalog display and transactable status across Walmart International eCommerce sites
- Manage stakeholder relationships and deliver roadmap milestones
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- 2 years’ supervisory experience
- Proven hands-on leadership in Tier 0 systems overseeing software execution aligned with strategic roadmaps
- Strong knowledge of Java (Spring Boot), KAFKA, Reactive Spring, and Cassandra
- Expertise in software development lifecycle management, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance across multiple teams
- Strong knowledge of DevOps architecture, CI/CD practices, and cloud financial management
- Experience guiding architectural reviews and system design
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate cross-functional teams
- Skilled in mentoring engineers and fostering technical excellence through rigorous testing and code quality standards
- Proficient in project and milestone management
- Rust knowledge is a plus
- Preferred: Master's degree and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Preferred knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
