About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development and execution of fire safety and compliance strategies
- Support fire safety and compliance programs across Walmart retail and supply chain facilities
- Reduce fire and property risk by evaluating risk, developing controls, and implementing continuous improvement programs
- Mentor associates and foster a culture of integrity
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for fire protection engineering, property risk, fire safety, and regulatory compliance
- Apply NFPA codes, FM Data Sheets, building and fire codes, and applicable standards to complex facility and operational risks
- Partner with business and technical teams to develop practical fire protection solutions
- Review fire protection designs and engineering analyses for compliance and alignment with Walmart risk objectives
- Evaluate risks involving storage, ASRS, robotics, energy systems, and emerging technologies
- Lead large-scale fire testing and translate results, research, and loss experience into design standards, technical guidance, and operational requirements
- Support facility teams in resolving fire protection deficiencies and system impairments
- Collaborate with facility operations, real estate, maintenance, asset protection, compliance, and regulatory authorities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or a related discipline with experience in fire protection engineering, property risk, loss prevention, insurance, construction, or risk management
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or related field and 3 years experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulatory compliance or related field OR 6 years experience in environmental sciences or related field
- Knowledge of NFPA and IFC codes and standards
- Knowledge of FM Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets
- Strong understanding of fire protection system reliability, impairment management, inspection, testing, and maintenance
- Risk-management mindset balancing life safety, property protection, business continuity, compliance, operations, and costs
- Professional Engineer license or relevant fire protection or property risk credentials preferred
- Master of Business Administration preferred
- Project Management Professional certification preferred
- Must work at the Bentonville, Arkansas home office location
