About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the complete software development lifecycle for Command & Control Center platforms, products, automation frameworks, and engineering solutions
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, resilient, and observable software solutions
  • Develop production-grade applications, services, APIs, automation platforms, bots, and integrations
  • Apply software design principles, design patterns, secure coding practices, and engineering standards
  • Own production deployments through CI/CD pipelines and enforce quality, security, and release standards
  • Perform code reviews, design reviews, and architecture discussions
  • Monitor application health, usage patterns, and operational metrics and drive optimization and resiliency improvements
  • Manage software defects, enhancements, and technical improvements
  • Partner with Product Management, Program Management, Operations, User Experience, and Engineering teams
  • Translate business, stakeholder, and technical requirements into reliable, performant, observable, secure, and maintainable solutions
  • Design and deliver cloud-native platforms, services, APIs, dashboards, and workflow automation systems
  • Build reusable engineering frameworks, shared services, and platform capabilities
  • Use observability tools and SRE practices for proactive system health monitoring
  • Automate workflows with ServiceNow and introduce AIOps and LLM-based automation
  • Drive reliability and operational risk accountability across infrastructure, platforms, and systems
  • Implement Incident, Problem, and Change Management aligned with ITIL principles
  • Monitor and alert on SLIs; triage, mitigate, and coordinate stakeholders during SLA breaches
  • Lead critical incident resolution in a Command Centre environment
  • Define escalation protocols and stakeholder communications during outages
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and Correction of Error, track action items, and validate fixes through regression testing
  • Maintain technical runbooks, knowledge repositories, and operational playbooks
  • Apply retail domain knowledge to optimize IT operations and support peak-season readiness

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BE/BTech in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum qualification alternative: bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; or 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • 6–12 years of experience across software engineering, IT service management, operations, or site reliability engineering
  • At least 4 years partnering with or leading global cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on coding experience in Python (required) and one or more of JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Shell
  • Exposure to Azure, GCP, and WCNP/AKS
  • Strong understanding of IT Operations, IT Service Management, Performance Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD using Concord, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins; Git; and defect-tracking tools
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, and ServiceNow
  • Knowledge of AIOps fundamentals and practical experience with LLM-based automation
  • Proficiency in Grafana, Prometheus, OpenObserve or similar, Splunk, and SRE monitoring practices
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology, software design fundamentals, and project management basics
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and handle multiple priorities
  • Experience in retail industry operations and technology landscape
