Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, test, and maintain scalable, high-performance Android applications powering Walmart’s e-commerce experience
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and cross-functional teams
  • Lead feature delivery from ideation and prototyping through deployment and production monitoring
  • Drive technical excellence through code reviews, design sessions, and mentoring junior engineers
  • Optimize app performance, reliability, and battery efficiency using profiling tools and crash analytics
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues using observability platforms such as OpenObserve
  • Design and implement modular architectures integrating GraphQL APIs and microservices backends
  • Implement and maintain unit, functional, and end-to-end testing automation frameworks
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party SDKs and APIs
  • Improve development processes, tools, and technologies
  • Stay current with Android ecosystem trends and emerging technologies
  • Use AI-powered development tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Copilot to improve engineering efficiency and code quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; alternatively, 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • 5+ years of experience building Android applications
  • Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, Coroutines, Flow, Android SDK, and Jetpack libraries
  • Experience with MVVM, MVI, MVP, or Clean Architecture
  • Experience integrating REST, GraphQL, JSON, and HTTP APIs
  • Familiarity with Node.js or Rust services
  • Understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Strong debugging, performance monitoring, optimization, memory management, and app stability skills
  • Proficiency writing unit and UI tests, automating workflows, and conducting code reviews
  • Working knowledge of Detekt, Android Lint, and SonarQube
  • Familiarity with Gradle, Maven Central, and third-party libraries
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins
  • Experience with A/B testing
  • Ability to implement designs using Jetpack Compose, ConstraintLayout, and Material Design guidelines
  • Excellent collaboration and decision-making skills
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
