About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead delivery of scalable, secure software solutions across multiple customer data platforms
- Own delivery of scoped features and components through collaborative engineering teams
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across multiple programming languages
- Drive the full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD and automated testing
- Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools
- Participate in solution design and conduct code reviews
- Apply best practices for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems
- Translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes with stakeholders
- Monitor application performance and support defect resolution
- Ensure high-quality software delivery and adherence to project timelines
- Mentor peers and promote continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and innovation
- Support foundational customer data infrastructure, privacy enforcement, and identity resolution capabilities for Walmart's Growth organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Strong experience with GCP cloud technologies
- Strong experience with Python, Scala, Java, and Shell scripting
- Proficiency in Apache Spark, Hive, MapReduce, Airflow, REST APIs, and GraphQL
- Strong experience building scalable and robust applications using Big Data technologies
- Hands-on experience building event-driven data processing solutions and real-time streaming applications using Apache Kafka
- Experience with transactional Big Data platforms such as Cassandra and BigQuery
- Experience leveraging AI tools throughout the SDLC lifecycle
- Ability to build AI agents for business and engineering use cases
- Skilled in complex SQL, Spark SQL, Hive, and NoSQL queries for large-scale data processing
- Experience building and integrating stream-based data pipelines with RESTful APIs and GraphQL services
- Proficient in Java backend development with strong programming skills, with both Big Data and Java expertise
- Experience handling and triaging complex production issues
- Must meet Walmart's drug-free workplace policy
